Life & AD&D

The City of Indianapolis provides full-time employees with $50,000 of Group Basic Life and AD&D insurance at no cost. On top of that, you can buy Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage through The Standard for yourself, your spouse, and your children, paid through payroll deductions. Your cost is based on your age and the amount of coverage you elect.

  • Employee: $10,000 increments, up to the lesser of $500,000 or 5× salary. Guarantee issue: $150,000.
  • Spouse: $5,000 increments, up to $50,000 or 50% of the employee benefit. Guarantee issue: $25,000.
  • Children: $10,000.

For the 2027 open enrollment period only, all eligible employees can elect coverage up to the guarantee issue amounts for themselves and their spouses without submitting evidence of insurability. You must elect coverage for yourself before electing coverage for your spouse or children.

Voluntary Life rates.

These coverages are paid entirely through your own payroll deductions and priced by age band. Because rates are specific to your group, they live behind the secure member login rather than on this public page.
